Publisher's summary

“I can’t juggle starships. I make the ones who can.”

The battle with the Iron Legion has left The Last Horizon battered and broken, drifting in space. Varic needs an exceptional engineer to fix his ship, and there’s only one person for the job: Mell, the master Aether technician.

But first, they have to break her out of prison.

Mell has been captured by the Advocates, a group of superpowered vigilantes who dominate their corner of the galaxy. They are led by Starhammer, an invincible champion with a personal obsession with Mell.

The Last Horizon may be crewed by the greatest heroes in the galaxy, but even they have to be careful with Starhammer. Every time he survives a battle, he grows stronger.

In another life, Varic saw the end of that road. If he lets Starhammer become too powerful, the galaxy is doomed.

Just wow

I truly enjoy this book, it was a fantastic story from start to finish. And the bloopers at the end were just amazing.

Another Will White hit

Just like the first one, this second book does not disappoint. Humor and action blended seamlessly with Travis Baldree bringing it all together.

Great stuff

I really enjoyed the first book in this series, and this one is even better. It’s funny and epic and action packed. What’s not to like? Now I need more, no, I demand more! Way more twists and turns then expected!

Everytime you think you have this book figured out, just realize that you don't and honestly that's okay that's a part of the fun!! Travis does a fantastic job as always and I think his voicing of Omega is one of my favorites he's done. Thank you for another wonderful book in your collection!

very good, super original

This story is more on the original and creative side of these types of stories as I cannot think of many that are quite like this. At times the book is intricate as there are elements of time travel and multiple dimensions or timelines to keep track of but author does all right keeping us on track

Better than the first, pleasantly surprised

Okay so it’s kinda clear this pulls from video game world creation and systems but I was surprised how well it worked. I am predisposed to enjoy the style even if I don’t play video games anymore but it takes a delicate touch to get it right.

Another surprise: I generally enjoy the side characters more than the main. I don’t hate the main character but he feels like the author’s video game character whose characteristics don’t quite seem to align together. He’s all powerful but his personality just doesn’t jibe with that.

Horizon’s character might be my favorite and the most well developed. Her dialogue and banter come so easily and are so believable.

Overall, I came into the series with low-ish expectations despite liking some of WW’s other works. The first book was free for a bit so why not try it out. More than other books or series I’ve read recently, the series really gains momentum through book 1 and into book two. I almosttt wish WW could go back to the beginning of the first book to revise, add some meat, and prep the reader for a longer series instead of growing into the larger world. It’s almost as if WW didn’t realize how good of a story and world he was building till he got mostly through the first book!

Im still laughing.

The bloopers reel at the end nearly killed me while i was at work. My foreman and apprentice borh looked at me like i was crazy.
The storyline caught me off guard several times and watching the characters grow was excellent.

Travis Baldree knocked it out of the park and the character voices are truly becoming their own.
