Adventurers seek dungeons for riches. Heroes storm great fortresses. Gods clash far above. Arek cooks lasagna and tops it with a dash of finely chopped basil. An orc who has seen more than his fair amount of fighting, Arek wants nothing more than to spend the rest of his days cooking and away from the chaos of combat. However, when Ming and her group of adventurers hire him as their full-time chef, his plans of avoiding violence crumble. Life isn't that easy. Just like everything else, there are rules and regulations—and Chance didn't make the cut. Not until a lucky encounter gets him a one-way ticket to his future. Zane was driving home from work when the world changed. Thousands of dungeons spawned at once, taking up every inch of Earth—including the road he’s driving on. He wakes up to a totaled car and a broken leg, facing down a goblin trying to spear him through the guts. And that's just the start of it. But to Zane’s surprise, he finds himself enjoying this brutal new world. While others cower and hide, he goes on the hunt. I struggled every day, looking to put something on the table, but it was my life, and no one had a right to take it. Especially not Eris Lanyer, lord of the city, the very same who was supposed to keep people such as myself safe! The nobleman killed me without a second thought for the sole purpose of testing the blade he had just acquired! So here I am, burning with such a rage at this flagrant lack of justice. My hate is so immense that I'm unable to pass to the afterlife, and so I return as a Revenant.

The Qash'vo'tar did not care what humanity did on the ground, as long as they didn't attempt to build anything that could get them to the stars. And now, sixty-seven years after they had been conquered, it was time for humanity to show the Qash'vo'tar that they had been right to fear humanity.

Eric was as shocked as everyone else when the apocalypse struck, but unlike his mother's movie, there were no chosen heroes destined to fight the beast hordes now overrunning the planet. Just people trying desperately to survive. Yet there was a glimmer of hope that humanity could hold on to. A chosen few really could level up in this brave new world, and embrace magic, adventure, and the potential for limitless power!

Ancient Magic brought the world to its knees. Now, Angel is bringing it back.
In the time that passed, society rebuilt, mixing machinery and magic to form something new. Great blimps took to the sky, belching steam and smoke as metal city-states sprouted like weeds below.
Angel, a daring adventurer, scours the desert endlessly in search of ancient magic. When he’s given an offer he can’t refuse, he finds out that he’s not the only one seeking lost knowledge. His opponents wield magic that the world has forgotten, and their methods leave cities razed and the innocent in their wake.
In a race against a group who has lived in the shadows since the Great War, Angel will have to determine just how far he’s willing to go to accomplish his goals.

Story
In the heart of the South Pacific lies Point Nemo, the most desolate and remote place on Earth. At its core is a dead zone, devoid of life, where government agencies crash their obsolete satellites and space stations, confident they won't harm a soul. When the International Space Station suffers a catastrophic failure and plummets through the atmosphere, it's here that Mission Specialist Julie Rohr, an astrobiologist studying living space dust called xylem, finds herself marooned. Julie's only hope for rescue lies in the hands of her estranged father, Dr. Finn Maddern, a renowned mycologist.

Story
The Young Gods Tournament awaits. Only the victors will break through to the worlds beyond the heavens. In an unfair world where a single monster can wipe out an entire village, Thomas is not one of the chosen few. He wasn’t gifted with immense power from the moment of his birth, nor does he have a powerful backer to defend him. By the laws of the world, it’s near impossible for him to rise to the top. But where the god’s themselves have failed him, Thomas will push on and gain the strength to protect his friends, and his home, from the ever rising dangers of the world.

Story
Following the guidance of a mysterious blue prompt, Sylas journeys to the town of Ember Hollow to breathe new life into a quaint local pub. Along the way, he meets a clever apothecary named Mira, who helps him acclimate to the ins and outs of the realm, and Patches, a corpulent cat who’s slightly . . . shall we say, unusual. Dubbing the pub “The Old Lamplighter,” Sylas hopes it will be a safe haven for other weary souls. Of course, it doesn’t feel that safe when the prompt reappears with a warning: [You have 89 days until the invasion.]

Story
For more than 150 years I've served the Kingdom of Sena. Through four Kings and a Queen. Two wars and a rebellion. I've founded and taught at a magic school. I've fought against beast waves and dungeon breaks. But now? Now, the one close friend I had left has passed. So, I'm done with their politics and their economics. The short and busy lives of humans are more burden than benefit on the weary soul of this half-elf.

The usual result of a human taking a runaway semitruck head-on is a very sudden, very fast track to the pearly gates. But for one newly noncorporeal man, there's another option: become a dungeon. Feeling sorry for the desperate angel assigned to him, the man relents. Heck, if it doesn't work out, he can always chat with Saint Peter about it later. Next thing you know, he's a dungeon. A Decent, Enjoyable LitRPG
I enjoyed my time in this world. It had some unique character perspectives that you don't get often. I'm also very keen on the Steampunk world/astethic. So it wasn't to hard for me to get into it at the beginning, but the story is ultimately what kept me in it. As with any series of books there are moments that feel a bit of a slog. However, I get that with some of my all time favorite books. The highs definitely outweigh those moments and I could actually see myself coming back to this story. I also have to admit I saw some of myself in Angel. He has a bit of an.... aversion to people and he was an "unusual hero" and I actually appreciate that.
I gave the story a 4 star, but it was really like a 4.25.

Good, Twisty Fun
This was a very entertaining series with an interesting magic system and well-formed characters. There were enough twists and turns to keep the mystery of the greater story interesting as well as satisfying endings for each book. The characters were enjoyable as well. I appreciated the levity among characters. It’s well worth a read.
Just a few nitpicks:
-The narrator overall does a great job. His voices occasionally merge a bit going from one character to the next which was distracting at times.
-The listing of stats was a bit irritating in the beginning as it was stated several times with few changes. That just might be something that didn’t translate as well in an audio format. I would have appreciated just what changed instead of everything.

Lots of Deus ex Machina, and an underexplored world
Overall, this story does nothing wrong, but it doesn’t do much that’s exceptional.
I’ve waited for a steampunk Litrpg, and this story started out great with a slum kid tinkering, but it rapidly becomes a standard escort arc, with the MC basically having no challenges.
There’s a lot of potential with a magic world going through an apocalyptic war, the junker nobility that follows and a quest to heal magic. This story leaves a lot in the authors mind, though I wish the author had left the step by step fight scenes in their head rather that spend so much time on pretty boring fights.
As for the author, he has a great “wise old man telling campfire stories” voice but with how this story is written it feels like a bad con man reading a tale and pulling plot points out of the smoke.
This scratches an itch but I would put it to younger readers
