Laurie Foos is the author of EX UTERO, PORTRAIT OF THE WALRUS BY A YOUNG ARTIST, TWINSHIP, BINGO UNDER THE CRUCIFIX, BEFORE ELVIS THERE WAS NOTHING, and THE GIANT BABY, and most recently, THE BLUE GIRL. Excerpts of THE BLUE GIRL have appeared in WRECKAGE OF REASON: XXPERIMENTAL WOMEN WRITING IN THE 21ST CENTURY and in the literary magazines, THE RAKE and SOLSTICE: A MAGAZINE OF DIVERSE VOICES. Her story, "Moon Pies," another excerpt from THE BLUE GIRL, was named 2nd prize for the 2008 Italo Calvino Fiction Award. Her non-fiction has appeared in SO GLAD THEY TOLD ME: WOMEN GET REAL ABOUT MOTHERHOOD. She teaches in the low residency MFA program at Lesley University and in the BFA program at Goddard College and lives on Long Island with her husband and two children.
