  • Who Wins & WHO Loses? The 227th Evolutionary Lens with Bret Weinstein and Heather Heying
    May 28 2024

In this 227th in a series of live discussions with Bret Weinstein and Heather Heying (both PhDs in Biology), we talk about the state of the world through an evolutionary lens.

In this episode, we discuss the failure of the WHOs Pandemic Preparedness Treaty—what it means, what the world did right, and what Goliath may have learned from the experience against a scrappy band of emergent Davids. Also: who cheats in high school sports, who does not, and what the Washington State Track and Field meet in Yakima demonstrated about athleticism, sportsmanship, and honor, with special mention of Braelyn Baker. Finally: thoughts about dreams.

  • Science Friction: The 226th Evolutionary Lens with Bret Weinstein and Heather Heying
    May 22 2024

In this 226th in a series of live discussions with Bret Weinstein and Heather Heying (both PhDs in Biology), we talk about the state of the world through an evolutionary lens.

In this episode, we discuss a new breakthrough in plant genetics: polyploid potatoes and corn from Ohalo Genetics, which are claimed to double the harvest from individual plants. Beginning with a discussion of naturally occurring polyploidy in other species, including frogs, we analyze the discussion of Ohalo’s new products with an evolutionary lens. Is it possible that biotechnology can evade trade-offs, or is this utopian thinking in the corporate world? Why do so many mistakes of modernity come in the form of people accustomed to complicated systems, applying their knowledge to complex systems? Finally: does Terrence Howard (recently on Joe Rogan) have a predictive model, or is he just blowing smoke?

Great Podcast

The podcast is very informational; scientific data with a human touch. Love you guys! I barely heard of you a few months ago from the Joe Rogan interview and I immediately found you on Spotify and I wait for all of your podcasts now. I am very happy to have stumbled across you. You two are real in a very upside down world. God bless you and yours.

Some interesting stuff

Check his wikipedia page for more information about this most interesting podcaster. Glad there are contrarians out there presenting alternative views, but it is always a good idea to check the primary sources. I'd especially recommend the TWIV podcast for information about viruses and ivermectin in particular since these are actual virologists who know their stuff.

The Truth

It’s refreshing to hear doctors and scientists tell the truth somewhere. Thank you to Bret Weinstein and Heather Heying for having the guts to tell The Truth. I will forever be in your debt.

This is what real science is about! Questioning, reasoning, putting forvard hypothesis and looking at them from different angles.

Great comfort in hearing their podcast

Even though topic matter can be tense, Bret and Heather are some of the most eloquent, compassionate and courageous journalists we have the good fortune to have access to. They are exceptionally driven by integrity and in so doing are inspiring for listeners, especially after so many others have buckled to the dictates of the media.

Bret and Heather Are Absolutely Illuminating

Bret and Heather are two incredibly smart and well intentioned scientists who shine a light on the scientific world, and help us who are not involved understand the struggles and politics that play underneath the cover of science. They examine papers and hypothesis that for some reason get ignored by the mainstream, and ask questions that are both intriguing and worrisome. Of all my podcasts this one I feel keeps me the most educated, and helps me see the world of science from a less pedestrian point of view.

thank you for keeping logic and healthy skepticism in "science" and dissecting our confusing times with a well-measured scalpel.

Intelligent and profound source of real and important information

Thank you Bret. I can’t tell you how grateful I am for all the work you are doing broadcasting such important information that most people don’t have access to, or time to find, or even the ability to dissect. I share this with everyone and I hope more people tune into DHP. Mahalo nui

Non-corrupt information distributor

While Dr. Weinstein is an individual with an idiosyncratic perspective, the content of this podcast should serve as a model of careful, thoroughly reasonable, information distribution; a practice all too rare in contemporary US.
