Resumen del Editor

From Emmy Award winner Tamron Hall comes an edge-of-your-seat thriller featuring journalist Jordan Manning as she delves into the case of a mother in danger and uncovers a dangerous web of secrets that could lead right to the missing womanor put Jordan in the crosshairs of her abductors.

“With Jordan Manning, Tamron Hall has given us a smart, empathetic heroine to cheer on for years to come.”—Alafair Burke, New York Times bestselling author

After dropping her child off at preschool, Marla Hancock, a stay-at-home mother, disappears. She had recently left her verbally abusive husband in rural Indiana and moved in with her sister, Shelly, who simply can’t believe that her sister would ever willingly vanish without her children. But with limited support from the town’s police department or media resources, Shelly fears that Marla’s disappearance won’t get the attention it deserves, or worse, will go unsolved. So, several weeks after filing a missing person’s report, she reaches out to TV journalist Jordan Manning for help.

After her investigative and reporting skills helped solve multiple murders, Jordan Manning’s career in the newsroom is on the rise. She has gained a reputation as more than your typical news reporter: a “fixer” with a vigilante edge, dogged and undeterred to seek the truth. But even with this new status, Jordan still feels pressure to prove herself as a young Black professional. When Shelly reaches out, she feels compelled to do all she can to find Marla.

Jordan’s search twists and turns in ways she could never have imagined, illuminating scandals and secrets that place her own life in grave danger.

A Story With Unexpected Ending.

It some ways this story lacked polish or seemed not to be well edited. The ideas were great but the seemingly worldly main character, Jordan Justice, seemed awkward in her personal interactions.

Just ok

It wasn’t as good as the first one, a bit long and drawn out, trying to fill space.

Next one!

We need more Jordan in this world. Relentless, self effacing…I could on and on. Write another one.

Tamara Hall is a compelling story teller!

This is the second book in the Jordan Manning series about an investigative journalist that has built a reputation for solving crimes the authorities have been unable to solve. The characters are believable and dialogue is real. This one had me guessing until the end. Well worth the listen! Love the narrator, too!

Joran’s being Jordan

Good story with a few unexpected twists. I needed more something that was in the first novel, but not this one. Overall, good.

2 is better than 1

I've read both books in this series. I didn't particularly like the fist one. There seems to be a lot of growth in the second book. book 2 was much better. A few more books and she maybe a halfway decent writer.

She made the characters real people

She made it live with her explanations of the various people and connection to each other

Underwhelming

I wanted to love this book because I love Tamron Hall and I enjoyed the first book. However, Book2 of the Jordan Manning series is rather dull to be quite honest. I totally understand that all thrillers aren’t created equal, and authors don’t have to subscribe to a myriad of plot twists & turns throughout a story for added shock value. Though that style of storytelling usually keeps readers engaged at the very least. I found it a bit difficult to care about anything that was happening in this book! Although it’s well written, and the author is very intentional with her writing.

Additionally, the Jordan character feeds into the stereotype that extremely successful Black Women are often lonely and unwed. Like it’s either a prominent career or family, but “they” can’t have both! Even though we see her invite Nate to attend the event at the end of the book, it felt like it was more out a of desperation, versus an authentic connection. Everything about her and Nate felt forced. Lastly, I do think the author is amazing and I truly appreciate her writing style I just hoped for a little more action and unfortunately this one fell a little short in my opinion. However, I’d definitely recommend this book and series to anyone interested in a good ole “whodunnit” story!! Let me know what you think in the comments!!

To much repetition

Nice story, but I felt it was a bit to repetitious. There was no grab you when reading or listening. Expected a little better

the mystery

I was surprised how caught up I got. Throughly enjoyed the intrigue, mystery, and suspense. Great book.
