I have loved these stories and listen again from time to time. this one was a fitting end .

What did you love best about The Shepherd's Crown?

A beautiful story that sums up what is best about the writings of TP. The death scene of Granny Weatherwax is an astounding one in that DEATH's eulogy to GW could have been for TP himself. Alas it is with deep regret we have to part the discworld and it's characters, but we are safe knowing that Ponder has Hex and Tiffany and the Wee Free Men have everyone's backs!

What other book might you compare The Shepherd's Crown to and why?

Huckleberry Finn, as it is about endings and new beginnings. A salute to an old world with a nod to how it must change.

What does Stephen Briggs bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The voices of the Characters, in particular the Feagles.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes.

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to Terry Pratchett, having read him for more than twenty years and having met him once in NY in 1998.

Superb

A wonderful narrative delivered by a supreme orator. Stephen Briggs pays true homage to the majesty that is Terry Pratchett’a wit and erudition. A truly insightful man with a wickedly vivid imagination

Not all there

While a good book, it doesn't wholly feel like a Terry Pratchett book. It feels more big picture, more epic than the usual Terry Pratchett. This isn't a bad thing, I just miss his old style.

Terry and all will be missed!

sad to here the final words in a world I have grown to love. ...yet a wonderful tale worn a tremendous reader in its own right.

It's a Terry Pratchett's book ,but you do need that touch of British humor.

For all (I do mean all) ages.

My daughter graduated College a bit ago. She's followed him & this series.
I've especially enjoyed this series and this book.
The Thief Of Time : another of his I like

The final Diskworld should be read last

It's a beautiful end to the Diskworld universe, and should be treated as such.

The books entrance is sudden and powerful, but it's clout comes from our existing relationship to the Discworld characters. The story has a hard time continuing the series momentum throughout and is clearly a work in progress.

Read this book last, cherish it as a final homage to the stories and author we've come to love.

One of the top authors of all time.

His last work now I will start over. True pleasure. All of his books are fun, delightful and works of art. A true wordsmith.

I miss Terry Pratchett every single day!

I stumbled upon Terry Pratchett by chance in this Tiffany Aching series. I've since listened to as many of his other books as possible. But this series is one my favorite of all time. His writing has so many layers, so many smart, deep and utterly hilarious qualities. These books are an absolute go to any time I am struggling, or afraid , or sad: I listen to Esmerelda Weatherwax insist she never got anywhere with "I can't!"
The way he writes about women is also immensely insightful, funny , and endearing. I recommend this entire series to anyone who will listen to me. They're an amalgam of original and deep, and somewhat pythonesque storytelling with smashing narration by Stephen Briggs. I highly recommend you try the series. I'm guessing you'll treasure them all. Especially if you've a fine, big, wee hag in your life in the form of a girlfriend, wife, sister, mother, aunt or granny- or a nurse practitioner. Ive no doubt that all these books will resonate with me forever. Happy listening.

Crivens! That was a good kick in tae heid!

Terry Pratchett will be missed! This is a great goodbye from a man who created an entire world of whimsy, wit, and wild social commentary. It is clear he "finished" this book (pay attention to the note at the end) but could have written more, but it was complete nonetheless.
Stephen Briggs does a masterful job of bringing the story of Tiffany Aching to life (especially the Nac Mac Feegles!), and this is no exception!
