Montessori parenting is a style of education that helps children learn naturally through exploration and discovery. It encourages children to think critically and creatively as they grow through the Montessori method.

The Montessori method focuses on open-ended activities, such as art or cooking, that lead to natural discoveries about the world around them. Children are allowed to partially create their own work and solve problems on their own without adult intervention. They start this way by drawing at the first grade level and advance gradually throughout their school years, focusing more on reading comprehension as they develop cognitively. The Montessori approach helps them feel successful in using knowledge and critical thinking skills every day of the early childhood education process.

Many Montessori schools function like Montessori homes, where children are encouraged to entertain themselves through different activities throughout the day. This independence is necessary for them to learn how to allocate their own time and think for themselves.

The benefits of the Montessori method in a home setting are mainly in the areas of socialization and intellectual development. Parents reported that their children improved in many areas, including following directions, ability to focus, self-esteem and self-confidence, social skills with adults and peers, interests in a variety of activities and academic success in kindergarten. The research also shows very little negative impact from the parents' decision to implement this method.

Montessori is an alternative to conventional parenting techniques because it promotes independence and safe exploration through freedom. This freedom allows children to find their own paths, discover their own interests and problem solve independently.
