Publisher's summary

Time changes everything, even history.

After disappearing amidst a spray of bullets, antiques dealer Sarah Lester leaves behind no body, only questions. Sarah’s friends are left dealing with the aftermath of her disappearance, including an investigation into the provenance of her antiques, which threatens to crush The Old Curiosity Shop.

As Sarah struggles to reunite with her father, she continues the search for her mother, unaware the violent colonial past has followed her home, putting herself, and those she loves in danger.

From the remote shores of New Zealand, through India’s hill country stations and onto the streets of Victorian London, Sarah must decide whether family bonds are strong enough to stretch through time.

transitional plot lines

so in a series of three it always seems that the number two book is merely a transition, and this seems to be the same for this series. Although a lot happens in this book, there is no resolution to any storyline. Also, we keep getting more and more storylines that make the book somewhat convoluted. But I suppose that the book reflects life, every character has a unique story.
So while this one is not my favorite, the first book was absolutely charming and very engaging, Which gives me hope for the third and final book in the series.

Great

I love this series so far! I almost didn't read this due to a bad review of another person... I'm so glad I decided for myself instead of going off another person's opinion!

Loved the story-problem with recording

I really enjoyed the story but there were several parts where the taping was garbled and could not be understood.

This was not as good as the first book, it jumped around to much.

Enjoyed the listen very much

I like the concept of time travel through the postcards and returning in a blonk of an eye. A well written book with lots of excitement.

Good But a Little All Over the Place

I fell in love with the first book, but it took me a lot longer to like this one. I started this book with the intention of continuing Sarah's story, but Sarah doesn't even make an appearance until halfway into this book. And also, she isn't the same likable Sarah from book 1. She's selfish and kind of rude. There were also too many characters. I get what the writer was trying to do, but it was all over the place. The performance was excellent.

Loved Book 1 but this was ??

The story is good but it branched out into so many storylines that it became hard to follow. Book 2 just ends without any resolution. I'm debating about continuing to Book 3 because this volume was disappointing.

Waste of time and money

Literally, a repeat of the last book which had a good storyline & I was anxious to read of continued adventures. This book is mostly a retelling from an ever so slight & not always new perspective. Sane characters & same situations. Few additional characters. It's most disappointing, like the previous book in the series it has no ending. Really, the last scene has a beginning but no middle or end. This author has only one story that repeats in each book & is not creative enough to imagine how to end a book while enticing the reader to read another in the series. I'm done! I won't read another by this author.

too many storylines

the first book was fun but the second tried to tell too many stories and they did not all matter to the protagonist. just distracting and at times regions. I wanted to love it as the main story line was original but it is EXHUASTING following all the bunny trails. edit all three down into one focused book and give it a good climax and resolution and I would get to the end. haven't enough stamina to stick it out.
