Publisher's summary

Solene Marchand, the 39-year-old owner of an art gallery in Los Angeles, is reluctant to take her daughter, Isabelle, to meet her favorite boy band. But since her divorce, she's more eager than ever to be close to Isabelle. The last thing Solene expects is to make a connection with one of the members of the world-famous August Moon.

But Hayes Campbell is clever, winning, confident, and posh, and the attraction is immediate. That he is all of 20 years old further complicates things. What begins as a series of clandestine trysts quickly evolves into a passionate and genuine relationship. It is a journey that spans continents as Solene and Hayes navigate each other's worlds: from stadium tours to international art fairs to secluded hideaways in Paris and Miami.

For Solene, it is a reclaiming of self, as well as a rediscovery of happiness and love. When Solene and Hayes's romance becomes a viral sensation, and both she and her daughter become the target of rabid fans and an insatiable media, Solene must face how her romantic life has impacted the lives of those she cares about most.

Contains mature themes.

Fifty Shades of Hayes

Ok, ok so there isn’t a torture love chamber. But there is a lot of sex. First a disclaimer, romance/fantasy is not my preferred genre. I typically gravitate to mystery/thrillers. So I am basing my review with that in consi

Stop everything and listen.

I still haven't recovered from this book and I don't have enough words to recommend it enough. Just get it. You won't ever regret it.

Obsessed

I listen to a lot of books. Many of which I loved and thoroughly enjoyed. This is the first review I’ve taken the time to write. The writing was unbelievably good. So impressive. Equally impressive was the author’s performance of the book. I hated when this book was over. I can’t recommend it enough.

Amazing

Didn’t know what to expect with this book, but it was absolutely incredible. I finished it a few days ago but I’m still obsessing over the characters

I'm obsessed with Hayes & Solene!

I absolutely loved this book. Robinne Lee did an amazing job both writing and narrating. I finished the audiobook around 11am today (it’s now 8:25pm) and I can’t stop thinking of Hayes & Solene. Their story & chemistry is one I won’t ever forget. This isn’t your typical romance listen. I really hope that Robinne writes more books!

Unexpected Delight

I’d recommend this book to any woman on the brink of 40 and beyond. I think many romance readers crave the erotic presentation of desire this book generously unlocks. My main critique would be to lighten the heavy hand near the end—but I ultimately found the end satisfying and would gladly read anything else this author writes.

Great entertaining book

I really enjoyed the story and the performance. I didn’t love the ending, and I also thought it seemed inconsistent with how the characters behaved during the story leading up to that, but I guess life is complicated, after all.

It was just supposed to be lunch...

The Idea of You isn't your typical love story. It also isn't your typical opposites attract story. Solene and Hayes first set eyes on each other at a boy band concert. He was part of the boy band. She was the mother of 12-year-old Isabelle who believes herself to be in love with Hayes like most typical tweens and teens in that age bracket. Solene is 40; Hayes is 20. "This is just lunch," was the start of their relationship. Just lunch turned into secret meet ups and stolen moments. While a 20-year age gap begs to scream Oedipus Complex, this is far from the case for Solene and Hayes. Once the reader overcomes the fact that Solene is indeed old enough to be Hayes' mother, their story is far from needing any sort of therapy. In their story age is truly just a number. As their love story unfolds, you forget the age difference. You forget that, in some societal circles, their relationship is frowned upon. You forget that a singer in a boy band should have nothing in common with an art gallery owner. You forget that the world can be a cruel, cruel place. And for a while their relationship is not a big deal. They meet when they can and they make their relationship work. They both give and take. They both put in the time to have a strong relationship. But when the notoriety of their relationship starts to affect Isabelle, choices need to be made.

I won't spoil the ending. It was not what I was expecting, but just the way it needed to be. Hayes and Solene have given credence to the fact that love does happen unexpectedly and with unexpected people.
