This newer edition of the King James Bible published in 1769 is usually preferred by most that read it over the older 1611 version. This 1769 edition is highly sought after due to being more reader/listener friendly than the 1611 since many typos were fixed.... Solid story.
I just got into lovecraft so I'm probably just feeling the hype, but it's a solid story. Maybe a bit dated, but I think that's to be expected given the books age.

Hard to Follow
This was my first introduction to Lovecraft. It was a reading assignment for an English Lit class in college. The narrator was fine but the way Lovecraft writes, no dialog and a lot of made up words or archaic obsolete words, this book is hard to follow without actually looking at the words on the page. Even looking at the words it was hard for me to wrap my head around. I have had several people tell me this is not the best Lovecraft story, and I might enjoy Lovecraft better if I had been reading a different book of his.
So my suggestion is that if you've never read Lovecraft before and want to check him out to see what his fans are saying is his best story and start with that.
