Publisher's summary

Framed in the doorway of Hercule Poirot's bedroom stands an uninvited guest, coated from head to foot in dust. The man stares for a moment, then he sways and falls.

Who is he? Is he suffering from shock or just exhaustion? Above all, what is the significance of the figure 4, scribbled over and over again on a sheet of paper? Poirot finds himself plunged into a world of international intrigue, risking his life - and that of his twin brother - to uncover the truth.

Definitely different than other works…

…. and also different from the tv series version. Also, the usual personality traits seems to be exaggerated. Piorot surpasses self importance becoming arrogant while Hastings surpasses cluelessness becoming moronic.

Not really a mystery.

Well performed, but not really a mystery and that is what I look for in Agatha Christie novels.

Go Hastings

This is a convoluted Poirot which was good, but not the best. What made me give it 5 stars was the fact that I loved Hastings in it. I have read over 3/4 of the Poirot books and I like Hastings as a foil for Poirot, and so that we the audience can have the plot explained to us. But in this book Hastings comes into his own it is a must read because it gives him so much character, and makes him into a truly loyal and honourable friend.

Unpopular, but I LOVED this!

I know this isn’t a well-liked Christie book, but I loved it! Audibly gasped at a few moments. It’s not a classic Christie - but super fun. It’s a bit over-the-top and campy, but I love that. So much fun!

Excellent

This has to be one of the best Hercule Poirot books of all time. Agatha Christie’s writing just paints the images and scenery “four” you. 😉 It really would be a fantastic story on the silver screen.

The real big four

The narrator agains leads to an enjoyment of the story with his abilities to change voices. An excellent story with a great plot.

Poirot, Hercule Poirot. Agent 070 (symetrical 0's)

This novel was, in ways, much more James Bond than Poirot. It was odd but entertaining and Hugh Fraser does a great job.

Not my favorite

This isn’t my favorite Poirot. I have read many many Agatha Christie books and this was definitely something different. A lot of people may enjoy this more, but it wasn’t my style. Hugh Fraser did amazing as always, though!
