Too close...

The site of the old campus bungalow where two girls were brutally slain is now a flower patch covered with chrysanthemums. It's been 50 years since the Immaculate Conception Murders. Three more students and a teacher were killed in a sickening spree that many have forgotten. But there is one person who knows every twisted detail...

To see...

Hannah O'Rourke and her volatile half-sister, Eden, have little in common except a parent. Yet they've ended up at the same small college outside Chicago, sharing a bungalow with another girl. Hannah isn't thrilled - nor can she shake the feeling that she's being watched. And her journalism professor, Ellie Goodwin, keeps delving into Hannah and Eden's newsworthy past...

The danger...

When Hannah and Eden's arrival coincides with a spate of mysterious deaths, Ellie knows it's more than a fluke. A copycat is recreating those long-ago murders. Neither the police nor the school will accept the horrific truth. And the more Ellie discovers, the more she's convinced that she won't live to be believed...

Good premise

The characters don't react like normal people would. Step daughter has been missing for 9 days before police are contacted? Students die at a college and there's no investigation?

Ugh! The narrator!

The first book in the series by Kevin O’Brien was narrated by the same woman. It ruined a good story. I forgot about her since I listened to that book a while ago and didn’t know it was in a series. When I started this one, and heard the same hyperactive, breathless, high-pitched explosions, I almost turned it off. I made it through, but the end was brutal, when the action and danger increased. Human beings don’t freak out like that for that long!

Well written mystery

I always enjoy Kevin O’Brien’s writing. This continuation of the O’Rourke family’s complicated story was especially well written. Ann Marie Lee did a fine job narrating, but I personally feel that she would be better suited for other genres.

Just when I thought I knew…

I liked how the author created several story lines and plots! I thought maybe Alden but then dismissed thinking it could have been the priest…

My Lear favorite

I can’t believe how bad the book is. It’s possible that the narrator makes it so bad but I’ve loved 9 out of 10 of his books and then this one fell so flat. Disappointed

Grateful book really kept me guessing

I loved this series made me not want to stop listening. Never a dull moment and love how it ties the other book in.

Of course it was great!

Though it has a lot of moving parts and it was a little hard to follow at some points, the way it wrapped up in the last few chapter was a work of art.

Surprises & characters

Kevin O’Brien gives the reader so many characters, all with their own particular axes to grind. It’s hard to know whom to trust! Great fun! Many surprises!!

O’Brien never fails to enthrall

I have now read several of O’Brien’s books, and I am amazed how each one is so vastly different with such attention to detail of each and every sub-plot. The narrator is an excellent storyteller, as well.

Great Story Line

This series of books are some of the best I’ve listened to since becoming a member of Audible! The narrator is FANTASTIC as well.
