Youth’s Journey of Growth
The ending gestures and combined farewells of former-Path follower, Fel Ix and Jedi Padawan, Rooper Nitani was a perfect send-off.

Amazing!!
I’ve loved phase 2 so much and this is an excellent middle grade addition to The High Republic. More Rooper is always great, and Sky Graf is one of my favorite characters now!

Mostly great
Tessa Gratton delivered one of the stronger junior novels in the High Republic initiative so far. It just doesn't stand on it's own like it should, considering the target audience. I was surprised by how much it heavily tied into the YA and Adult novels by the end, making those books necessary reading, which is unusual. That said, as someone who's read them all, it was a fantastic character driven story, that really delivered on themes of family, compromise, and faith.

Cute story, if a bit unfinished
Probably the best of the YA novels in the High Republic series so far, but really only a single event ended up impacting the rest of the Galaxy’s goings-on.
Characters were likable and mostly identifiable, and I would be happy to read/listen to more with the same cast.

Solid YA story for Phase II of the High Republic.
A good side story to the greater Phase II arc. It does a good job of filling in some gaps of the Battle of Dalna. Great narration as usual. A solid YA story.

Good and not so good
This is difficult to review. The story was great. Suspenseful and surprising, with good narration. But I was very disappointed in the ending.

Beautiful story! My favorite Middle Grade HR novel
The High Republic Middle Grade novels don't usually grab me as this one did! Tessa Gratton did an incredible job telling this character driven story of family, friendship and compromise. It's got so much personality and heart. The characters are beautifully written and well developed.
I also really enjoyed the narration and audiobook production.
A must read, but preferably after Cataclysm (spoilers present near the end).
I really hope to see more of these characters in the future!

Enjoyable, but...
Star Wars YA novels generally are pretty solid. I'm more apt to lean to the positive on this one, but the ending seemed rather abrupt and rather curious. I'm not sorry I listened though.
