Publisher's summary

The first arc in Morgan's Rise to Omniscience. Over 650,000 words in one convenient box set!

This set contains books 1-5 of Rise to Omniscience, as well as the audio exclusive short story, "Beast Zone".

Morgan's life is not easy.

Growing up on the streets of City Four, he is constantly shunned by the other citizens. Morgan doesn't mind being ignored. What he does mind, though, are the constant beatings from the city guards due to his friendship with Sarah, the city lord's only daughter.

Lord Simon wants him dead, but the laws of the kingdom are on Morgan’s side, and even the guards won't kill him just for being seen near his manor. Morgan’s time is running out, though. Lord Simon has deep pockets, and his last visit to the manor may just have put him over the edge. Worse, he is nearing his 16th birthday, and has yet to awaken any abilities. In a world where might makes right, he has never been one of the mighty. What will he do when faced with a life-altering decision, and just how will his decision impact those around him?

Warning: This book contains some profanity, gore, and content that may not be suitable for children. This book also contains GameLit elements such as stat sheets and a form of leveling and experience gain.

Decent, long. Good for the credit

The book has a fairly good storyline, decent plots. It kind of drags at times but since it has so many books in a collection it’s nice to have a good long listen if you go through a lot of books like I do. So it’s well worth the credit if you use them, not sure what the price would be, but I wouldn’t spend more than $15 on it. I wouldn’t call it one of my top 20 books, but I listen to books a lot so getting one that is worth listening too and not having to wait for the next book to come out or having to use a bunch of credits up for a series is nice.

Ahhhhhh I needed that. Thanks for the filling 5 course meal of LitRPG. Heavy on the Lit and just a dulap of RPG stats talk.

neat

The story was engaging. The reader performed Gold perfectly along with a few others. the rest however sounded extremely similar.

horrible narrator

the book might be better if not the narrator. I guess it could of been worse, not like mc was a killing machine right from the start with no training and automatically knowing how to use abilities. oh wait he did

Just wow.

Firstly, I’m still on book one as of this review, about 9 chapters in. Holy hell, the VA is absolutely killing this story and not in a good way. Monotonous through most of the chapters with barely if any changes in mood or tone with fights. Life threatening fight? No difference from walking through the city. I missed a chunk while at work listening and next I knew they had killed someone… no changes at all to the voices, no signs that a fight had even started, no indication that they were nervous, scared, or tired afterwards besides verbally saying these emotions. At this point, may as well have an AI read the book. The story itself sounds like it should be great and I’ll update the review later when I finish the full 5 books. But this acting just made me want a refund so far. I really really hope this improves through the books.

First books good then sudden MC incompetence

Spoilers ahead
First 4 books were good. Book 5 the author suddenly decided to make the MC behave like a greenhorn on his first adventure. MC goes from being a 100% logical creature to then having emotions(though they are magically stabilized). He is then completed by uniting with his again fully logical(although insane and directed towards combat) half. Somehow this makes him go from an ultra alert and focused warrior to a bumbling fool. A fool doesn't prepare for anything nor does he keep his 0 cost True Sight on even after having discovered several people he spent years around could shapeshift etc. Makes absolutely no sense and is deus ex bs.
