Publisher's summary

Perfect for fans of Becky Albertalli and Nina LaCour, this queer coming-of-age story from the author of The Falling in Love Montage is wry, multilayered, and unflinchingly honest.

Aideen has plenty of problems she can’t solve. But when she stumbles upon overachiever Meabh Kowalska having a full-blown meltdown, she sees one that she can actually fix. Meabh is desperate to escape her crushing pile of extracurriculars. Aideen volunteers to help - by pushing her down the stairs.

Problem? Solved. Meabh’s sprained ankle is the perfect excuse to ditch her overwhelming schedule. But when one of their classmates learns about their little scheme, more “clients” start asking for Aideen’s “help” - kicking off a semester of traded favors, ill-advised hijinks, and even an unexpected chance at love.

Fixing other people’s problems won’t fix her own. But it might be the push Aideen needs to start.

High School Rom Com

Auden is barely making it in high school what with eight classes and taking care of her mom. Meabh is the principal’s daughter and has a meltdown from her extracurricular activities. Meabh begs for help so Aideen pushes her down the stairs to sprain her ankle. The rest is chaos. Funny and heartwarming.

Don’t skip this book

It was a really awesome book! Again I’d do disclaimers in the beginning but other than that I loved it. It wasn’t just about YA romance. It had friendships, family issues, comedic relief and a lot heart. Seriously grab this book.

Gem of a novel

This is a wonderful book, written and narrated perfectly. Listen to the well crafted first chapter: in the banal setting of morning registration, Ciara Smyth uses the interactions (and the inimitable thoughts of Aideen) to incisively introduce most of her cast of characters (Miss Devlin: "That's right. You can sit next to your adorable crush smelling like unwashed armpits!") And the snark and sass in the lilt of Sarah Jane Drummey's narrations are spot on. Enjoy this book, it only gets better from there.

Thoroughly Enjoyed

This is one of the best YA books I've read this year! It was engaging and I've already recommended it to some of my coworkers.

Well written. Engaging. Liked it.

This might have some YA overtones but it’s for adults too. Very funny at times and poignant in places. Good ending. Highly recommend. Really liked it. Writing was intelligent and done well.

Good Story!!

It was a smooth book and a good story with real problems that high school students face each day.

Not a problem at all!

I'm extremely glad to have another book from this author, her debut was so impressive that doing a follow up on the same level was gonna be hard.. She did it though, a different yet equally excellent YA coming of age story.
