Publisher's summary
For most on Earth the war was over. For him, it's just beginning . . .
Jake Adlar's goals in life were simple—possibly nonexistent. All he wanted was to fly a desk. Hence, he'd joined the Space Force, the service with the most extensive array of Earth-side clerical specialties.
All he needed to make him happy was an office, a computer, his favorite coffee mug, and a never-ending pile of requisitions.
Then a pretty woman came along. Perhaps a drink or ten. Next thing Jake knew, he's shipped off to the Legions, doomed to fight in the seemingly endless war raging throughout the galaxy.
Now, survival tops the chart. Except that isn't so easy to do in the Legions, where everyone's a killer, officers are as merciless as the enemy, and dark schemes and secrets brood within the ranks.
Don't miss the start of this action-packed military sci-fi series from debut M. V. Viltch. Perfect for fans of Joshua Dalzelle, Rick Partlow, and Marko Kloos.

Story
In another galaxy, far, far away from Earth, an evil Empire controls 3/4ths of the star systems and yearns for more. Those regions not under their control have either traded obedience for their sovereignty, are too wild to tame, or too dangerous for Imperial troops to tread upon. The main thorn in the Emperor's side is the Frontier, which occupies a third of the lawless and barbaric Outer Rim. Countless commanders and fleets have been sent to pacify and annex it into the Empire. All have failed.

The secret is out about the shapeshifters of the world, and as they face the wildly disparate reactions from all parts of the globe, the local groups of shapeshifters are trying to adapt to being in the public eye. For some, like Sasha Wellington, the revelation of her status as a wolf shapeshifter is not something she can reveal just yet in her role as a biology teacher at a Boulder, Colorado high school. As a matter of fact, that is probably the last thing she should consider.

Story
For centuries Elves healed humans. Men, women, and children’s diseases and wounds would disappear after being touched by an Elven hand. Then came the fall of Mempacton and the ancient order of knights who protected the Elves. A ruthless Emperor seized control of the lands and ordered Elves to be hunted. For the Emperor and a select few of his henchmen had found out that drinking Elf blood reverses aging. Immortality could now be achieved by humans. It has been seventy years since the fall of Mempacton.

The USS Jefferson was destroyed en route, though, and only Mathison and three other marines survived. Trapped in stasis, they were hurled into the outer reaches of the solar system, where they wouldn’t be found for hundreds of years.

Gideon lowers his eye to the telescope lens, turns a dial, sees, collapses. Awakes concussed and rushes to the city square to announce his discovery: massive structures on another planet. Impossible without intelligence. He is burned at the stake for heresy. Will Lark is losing his mind. He's obsessed with a door on a roof of the apartment building next to his in San Francisco, thinks he's being followed, thinks the moon is swollen and likely to drop out of the sky. His dreams have been menacing and arguably prophetic.

Great story
Strong military sci fi story, and the writing is really good. Great character development, though the narrator doesn't always do them justice. Its still a really polished audiobook, would recommend.
