Publisher's summary
Logan Dodge and his wife Angelina are celebrating their anniversary on a beautiful, remote island when tragedy strikes…
Early one morning, Logan spots a boat of refugees sinking on the horizon. The former Navy SEAL and his wife race over to help, but are greeted by a surge of gunfire. No strangers to taking on evil, the two spring into action against a group of human traffickers attempting to smuggle victims into the United States. But the duo are outnumbered, outgunned, and caught by surprise. And they can’t save everyone.
In the days that follow, the faces of those the despicable criminals got away with haunt Logan’s dreams. From where he stands, there’s only one option: search, rescue, and rain brutal justice upon those responsible. But the deeper they dig, the worse the evil becomes. And the more powerful and connected it appears. A vast and intricate network that has deceived thousands of innocents into a life of slavery.
Regardless of the odds, Logan embarks on a violent crusade that will take him all over the Gulf of Mexico and Florida Strait, up and down the Keys, and eventually into the black heart of the Haitian criminal underworld. With thousands of lives hanging in the balance, Logan will stop at nothing to track down the victims and send the criminals to an early grave.
Diving, shootouts, and boat chases abound in this gut-wrenching, fists flying, guns blazing adventure in the Florida Keys. Lock, load, and strap in for a wild ride in paradise.

Others have arrived with a debt still to be paid. One of the migrants isn't fleeing anything. He's not from Europe, or Africa, or the East. He's from Texas, and he's wearing a robe. In 1521, the Aztec treasure, considered to be the greatest ever assembled, vanished from the capitol city of Tenochtitlan. Almost five centuries later, former Navy SEAL Logan Dodge finds a mysterious gold coin off of a secret ledge in the Florida Keys. When he learns the origin of the coin, he goes on a mission to find and secure the treasure for the people of Mexico. But he’s not the only one who’s caught the scent of gold. A notorious Mexican drug cartel known as Black Venom is right on his heels and will stop at nothing to take the treasure for themselves.

Story
Dawn. The English Channel. A small boat arrives crammed with exhausted migrants, not all of whom will make land. Some of the shattered occupants have already paid for their journeys. Others have arrived with a debt still to be paid. One of the migrants isn't fleeing anything. He's not from Europe, or Africa, or the East. He's from Texas, and he's wearing a robe. When the traffickers take some of their passengers to pay for their journey, they also take the man in the robe. That was their first mistake.

Story
I lived my life surrounded by luxuries, love, and attention. While at the mercy of lies, death, and deceit. I was tired of being just a pretty face. The woman who always had to prove her worth. When tragedy tears yet another gash in my heart, he was there to help mend my grief. But there was a mystery hidden behind those alluring diamond eyes. A whisper of ghosts and trauma from his past. Red flags I knew I shouldn’t ignore. Yet I couldn’t help the feelings blossoming within me or the fire that scorched my skin under his touch.

Address the cruelty of human smuggling.
Rief did not disappoint. Always look forward to each book. Kept me entertained as well as educated me a bit. The characters come to life. Wish this series was turned into a tv series.
