Publisher's summary

In the distant past, a time of magic and swordplay, there lived Harold, the mightiest lich of all, a master of arcane sciences, and a challenger of gods. After reaching the pinnacle of his power and finding it surprisingly bland, Harold waged a cataclysmic war against the gods, aiming to shatter the very system that confined him.

He took a nap, but he is awake once more.

Upon discovering that the new gods have been using some of his phylacteries as batteries to sustain themselves and grow more powerful, Harold has decided to take back what is his. He won't be alone. Accompanied by his faithful butler and maid Alex and a limpet that just won't leave no matter how often he teleports her over the nearest lake, Harold journeys north and east.

The Flaming Steppes await. An untamed land where great mantises roam and where a few fiery sects have made their homes, cultivating and growing in one of the harshest environments in the Divine Kingdom.

They are not prepared for Harold and his companions.

Loved It!!!

A great continuation of what is beginning to be one of my favorite series of all time! The perfect growth of each character development, along with some great new characters! I also once again found myself laughing throughout from either the back and forth banter, situational humor, differing character viewpoints and their inner dialogue, plus so much more!!!

My only critique would be that I wish it was longer and/or there’s a new book in the series released each month. I can’t wait for the next!

Too much focus on the manti

Did not care for the mantis dialog, or characters. I get we need more characters, otherwise the story would be too bare bones.

I love it because it cool

I love ❤️ the character Meam, she is so sweet & kind, onle thing is the recipe is a little raw. I wish I could think of a joke but I am bad at them.

Full Marks

A great sequel that I can't wait to continue. I think Ravensdagger does best with the stories that have some light-hearted comedy mixed in, so basically everything but the disappointing Sporemageddon series. Having a whole production crew for the narration certainly helps as well. At any rate, if you liked the first one then just grab this one and enjoy.

Should have been a single book.

Book 1 and 2 should have been packaged together to feel worth the credit in the genre. 9 hrs on anything other than 1x speed becomes closer to 6. Otherwise the story wasn't bad.

A max level DND litch wakes up in a world that has become cultivator xanxia. Unfortunately the story doesn't feel like it has capitalized on the idea very well, it sort of feels like the story is being glossed over so far. Maybe things will be different going forward in the direction the book ended on.

Returned Title

I will have to go back and listen to book One again as to figure out why I enjoyed this in the first place. The voice acting was awful, especially the female voices, which were so grating to me, that I would rather have read this book, than listened to it. The story seems to have no direction and the first seven chapters are mostly about a mantis turning into a maid, or butler. I also have to admit that the "Dumb machismo male" tropes and the constant "woke-type" references are just not enjoyable to me. On top of that, I agree with other reviewers in saying that nine hours is not worth the price, when I can get a book like Iron Prince for the same credit
