Ricki Wilde has many talents, but being a Wilde isn’t one of them. As the impulsive artistic daughter of a powerful Atlanta dynasty, she’s the opposite of her famous socialite sisters. Where they’re long-stemmed roses, she’s a dandelion: an adorable bloom that’s actually a weed, born to float wherever the wind blows. From the moment his eyes met hers, there was something. Time stood still, the world around them vanished, and electricity... instant electricity. Immediately, she owned him in an inexplicable way he couldn't quite understand. He couldn't escape her. Not in his dreams. And soon, not even in his reality. He was the man that made her soar. When souls are tied, it's never goodbye. A boy I was that summer evening I met you, pulling your belongings out of the truck and into your new home. I knew it was love then. A whole man I was the day that you met me at the altar and agreed to love me until death do us part. A shell of a man I've become since it did, unable to move on, move forward, or progress in any way until I discovered that not even death was permanent enough to keep us apart. A better man I'm destined to be, knowing that, at some capacity, you're still with me. Our love is one that never dies.

For months I stood by, an understudy waiting in the wings, preparing for my time to shine. I never imagined he would watch in the audience that night. Canon Holt. Famous film director. Fascinating. Talented. Fine. Before I could catch my breath, everything changed. I went from backstage Broadway to center stage Hollywood. Beautiful disaster. The first thing that comes to mind when I think of her. Who hurt you? The first question comes to mind when I open my mouth to greet her. Although it wasn't the easiest to reach, I knew her heart was pure. Gentle to the touch yet stubborn as a bull, she made it hard to resist her. Unintentionally, she sank her hooks in me. She was the calm before my storm. A thunderous, darkening storm with lightning that graciously exposed the paternity of my brother and me. Though the gloom of it all lingered above both our heads.

Publisher's summary
Tracy Brown crafts a tale about a master manipulator and serial survivor who will scorch earth to get what she wants. The question isn’t who murdered her; the question is who wouldn’t?
Brooklyn Melody James has finally gotten the punishment she deserves after leaving a web of lies, heartache, and betrayal behind her. As her life slips away, Brooklyn remembers the events that shaped her into the cold, calculating creature she became.
Brooklyn learned the art of hustling from her parents. who used the church to get money. Idolizing her father and despising her mother, Brooklyn’s determined to be the type of woman who makes her own rules. When her back’s up against the wall, she sacrifices her family, takes the burnt offering that remains, and runs away. In NYC, young Brooklyn charms her way into the inner circle of hustlers and stick-up kids, learning tricks along the way. She catches the eye of a major player in the drug game, Hassan, and they have a breathless love affair. Brooklyn becomes integrated into his operation, earning the trust of Hassan and his associates. But when she gets the keys to the kingdom, driven by unfettered ambition and a ruthless desire to survive, Brooklyn snatches the pot of gold, leaving bitter retribution promises behind her.
From DC to Maryland, Brooklyn burns bridges and breaks hearts. What she doesn't realize is that someone is prepared to end her reign of terror. As she faces her killer and her fate, Brooklyn’s stunned that justice comes from the least likely place.
A Macmillan Audio production from St. Martin’s Press.
Critic reviews
“Brown’s latest morality tale (posthumously published) is high drama and fast-paced, with a focus on family and survival at all costs…written in a confessional style that readers will relish.”—Booklist
"The entire experience with Brooklyn kept me absolutely riveted...This was a definite five-star read."—Chick Lit Central

Story
The modern audience hasn't had a chance to truly appreciate the unknowing dread that readers would have felt when reading Bram Stoker's original 1897 manuscript. Most modern productions employ campiness or sound effects to try to bring back that gothic tension, but we've tried something different. By returning to Stoker's original storytelling structure - a series of letters and journal entries voiced by Jonathan Harker, Dr. Van Helsing, and other characters - with an all-star cast of narrators, we've sought to recapture its originally intended horror and power.

Not the best, not the worst, but horrible ending
I didn't like the ending. It felt like a cliffhanger. I didn't mins the narrator. I supposed because I never been to New York, and unsure of their accent. I guess it was an OK book but I was expecting more after reading the reviews.

Tale Old As Time
Young girl falls for the fast life fast money . The drug dealer.
I hates everything about this book.
I didn't know the author passed away till I started listening. RIP.
The whole story so triggering. The mother not be leaving her own daughter.
The father is supposed to be a pastor but is a liar and a cheat.
Here's the trigger part the relationship with her sister that was me and my sister and my sister just passed away last year in May.
Being raised in the church I knew that life .
The whole gay storyline.
You couldn't cheer for the girl you knew from the start she was dead.
The other triggering part was I took a girlfriend in who was down on her luck once and I knew exactly what was going to happen there.
To me the whole drug gang aspect they would have just killed her then.
I just canceled Audible and this was my last credit and I really wanted a good book I pre-ordered it find out the other died and then the book was just trash.

Good book but the narrator..
Ugh this book was pretty good. I almost didn't finish because the narrator drove me nuts! The accents were horrible and it wasn't just because they didn't sound NY or Maryland.... they would of sounded terrible no matter where they would of been from just based in the tone alone ... phew that's how bad it was my first few lines of the review are just about the narrator....#facepalm
The story itself was pretty good. Like others I feel like the ending was a cliff hanger and not enough for a whole part two but could of used a few e extra chapters but I'm just glad Tracey Brown was able to finish this enough to put it out here for us to enjoy.
