I was fully engaged in the story at the start, but by the end I had to speed things up to get through it. It lost its momentum 3/4 of the way through & dragged on too long. I thought the narrator was excellent & I would listen to another story by her. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend the book though.

Very well written!
Yes, the basis of the story is slavery. BUT... It's sooo much more than that. The story is very engaging, the characters are well developed, and the story easy to follow. Love, loss, life, good people and bad. And a happy ending that doesn't leave anything unfinished.
And the narration is superb!
