Meh
Perhaps I’m picky … I just finished a Peter Grainger series so maybe that’s it. Honestly I wasn’t engaged. The story was decent, narration decent, characters ok. I read and listen to this genre often and probably expect better.

Good goddamn story
This isn't my normal kind of book. Normally fantasy and sci-fi is my deal.
But I really enjoyed this story. Liked how it ends. The protagonist's secret isn't really a secret if you just listen and put the pieces together.
I love stories like this. No sequel needed or wanted. Just a straightforward police drama with lots of little hints with each character about where things can go out of the novelist's spotlight.
That's enough of me not spoiling the plot.
Get the book. It's worth the purchase.

Enjoyed it.
Quite enjoyed “meeting” these new likable characters. Very nice to find a decent Police story without excessive super-action, or overdone gruesome descriptions.
My mind can conjure those without authors constantly having to add them.
Found it a bit slogging at times, but yep; truly enjoyable.

An interesting new to me series
The author developed some different characters. One with the secret that he still hasn't shared but makes people understand him. Understand him a little bit better.. It's a classic in the sense where the villains are dark in. The heroes are flawed but they're not dark. Lots of likable characters. The narration was well done.

Quite a surprise
