Resumen del Editor
Award-winning author and human rights activist Ishmael Beah brings us The Door to Tamba, a powerful story centered on a mining village in West Africa where the destruction of earth and pollution of life impacts the mind, body, and soul of communities. Hindolo, a storyteller, returns to his hometown after 30 years and recalls the solitary and formidable old man who opened his home to him and introduced a world of literature and imagination, which for many years, was his only escape. Hindolo begins writing the stories down on paper stolen from a nearby mine to share with his classmates.
“We will be stealing,” he remembers one of his old friends exclaiming.
“They are already stealing from us anyway,” Hindolo responds.
A thought-provoking story that returns to the basics of fiction and freedom, The Door to Tamba stays with one long after listening.

It’s the summer of ’77 in New York City, and the only thing more unnerving than the scorching heatwave is the rampant murder, leaving washed-up homicide detective Richard Dietrich on edge. Historia
A collection of Jackson's letters from prison, Soledad Brother is an outspoken condemnation of the racism of white America and a powerful appraisal of the prison system that failed to break his spirit but eventually took his life. Jackson's letters make palpable the intense feelings of anger and rebellion that filled Black men in America's prisons in the 1960s. But even removed from the social and political firestorms of the 1960s, Jackson's story still resonates for its portrait of a man taking a stand even while locked down.

The rituals and pageantry of courtship in the 19th century can seem foreign to us today. Some of us may look back and see a more romantic age, while others will see a minefield of strict rules and stuffy protocol. Either way you look at it, it was worlds away from what dating is in the 21st century. In the six lessons of A Courtly History: Romance in the 19th Century, Professor Stephanie Insley Hershinow gives you a look at the complex and ever-evolving rules of romance in 19th-century Britain. Along the way, you will see why this fascinating era keeps drawing us back to novels and Netflix.

But while Candace may think she knows her mother better than anyone, something deeper lingers beneath the surface, and times of hardship have a way of bringing us closer together than ever.

EXQUISITE!
This was beautiful. I didn't want it to end. Such courage and curiosity in the minds of children and demonstrates this craving and thirst for knowledge and adventure is a shared human experience.

Uplifting, grounding, and timely....
I want to thank the author whose poetic language flowed so beautifully from the narrator's mouth. I want to thank the narrator for letting me live through the eyes of others. I want to thank the author's characters for taking me on such a meaningful journey. I feel that all of us readers are one family.

It was a sweet story
I really liked that the children were so taken by the stories in the books and that they had a mentor who wanted to share the joy. It is another reminder that everyone in the world is not as fortunate as we are. The speaker had a very nice voice and helped to bring the story alive.
