Publisher's summary

Christmas is a time for goodwill to all, but Collars and Cuffs co-owner Thomas Williams receives an unexpected gift that chills him to the bone. A Dom from another Manchester club asks Thomas for his help rescuing an abused submissive, Peter Nicholson. Thomas takes in the young man as a favor to a friend, offering space and time to heal, but he makes it clear he's never had a sub and doesn't want one.

Peter finds Thomas' home calm and peaceful, but his past has left him unwilling to trust another Dom. When Thomas doesn't behave as Peter expects, Peter's nightmares begin to fade, and he decides he'd like to learn more about D/s life. A well-known trainer of submissives, Thomas begins to teach Peter, but as the new submissive opens up to him, Thomas finds he cares more for Peter than he should. Just as he decides it's time to find a permanent Dom for Peter, they discover Peter's tormentor is still very much a threat. With their lives in danger, Thomas can't deny his feelings for Peter any longer. The question now becomes: can Peter make it out of the lion's den alive, so Thomas can tell his boy he loves him?

Trust is Beautiful

In this second book in the series, Wells goes even deeper into the D/s relationship. Thomas and Peter discover an unconventional love that will melt reader's hearts. I've adored all the men in the series so far, and especially enjoy the cameos others make in each book.

Well done in audio.

I Can't Believe I Enjoyed This As Much as I Did

Would you listen to Trusting Thomas again? Why?

No, once was adequate - but I'd explore other books in the series.

What other book might you compare Trusting Thomas to and why?

I have no comparison. This was the first book of its type I have experienced.

What does Nick J. Russo bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He powers through the parts that would make me blush.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Don't know.

Any additional comments?

I really enjoyed this peek into the fantasy world of Doms and subs. Pure escapism for gay men. Not literature by any means. But fun and hot and compelling. Listen to it - nobody has to know you did.

Great story!

I liked everything about this book. I was invested in the characters lives and especially liked the fact that there was such a large age difference between them. I'm glad they were able to overcome this. Sex scenes were great. My only criticism would be that I wish Thomas had dropped out of Master mode more often and called Peter by his name rather than boy.

Amazing Listen

The narrator is a perfect choice for this one. I absolutely loved the kindle version and had to add the audiobook. I’m glad I did.

Life changing

For anyone who has wanted to know about what it's really like in the BDSM scene this book is highly important to read or listen to. The author writes beautifully honest and descriptive scenes that leave you wanting to only continue to the next chapter. The characters are real and make you feel like you want to be one of them have been one of them or would like to encounter one of them or more. Nick is also an amazing reader. His ability to change his voice and really make you feel as if you are that character is an important part of this book as well. I truly look forward to more in the series.

Absolutely Transformational for Main Characters

I am a devotee of the writing of KC Wells and truly believe that this is one of her greatest stories. I physically read the book a number of years ago and having recently started purchasing audiobooks, this was one of the first titles I purchased. If you are curious, as I was, there is a difference, between listening to the story and reading the story. In reading, your mind uses the author's words to conjure the characters and situations in with they find themselves. However, in listening, the narrator has used those same words to conjure those same situations and characters and uses their voice, both accent and inflection, to help you in your own conjecture. Your own mind pictures, at least in my case, will usually be more colorful and vital when listening.

The two main characters, Thomas, a 50ish, settled, dominant and business partner in a distinguished gay BDSM club in Manchester, England and Peter, a 26-year-old young man who longed to be a submissive but had ended up being an abused, beaten sex slave of a man who called himself a Master but was really a sadistic criminal, find themselves living in the same house after Peter is rescued from his former circumstances and taken to Thomas to save him from the clutches from his former 'Master'. Thomas takes on the task of caring for Peter and helping him to recover from the torture, both physical and psychological, that Peter has lived through the last years. Thomas believes he will perform this task as a dispassionate, although compassionate, man and when Peter has become a healthy version of himself, Thomas will vet other Dominants to see who would be an appropriate one to whom Peter could attach. Of course, as with most romances, even BDSM and erotic, plans do not always go as planned and different ones end up being written.

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to the developing tale of Peter and Thomas and know that we will be hearing more from them throughout the rest of the series. I enjoyed Nick Russo's use of voices to distinguish between the different characters in this book, as he did in book 1, An Unlocked Heart, and he carried over the voices of those main characters to this book appropriately. Peter and Thomas have a ways to go for their pinnacle and they have the full support of those around them to go the full route!

One of my favorites in the series

This book is one of my favorites in the series. Thomas, the owner of Collars and Cuffs, has spent decades training both Doms and subs. He has not had any personal relationships in nearly that long, and has been satisfied with that. Then Peter, a severely abused sub, is dropped at his doorstep to keep safe. Thomas takes on the challenge, and both he and Peter go through transformative changes while learning to live again. The plot is full of surprises and it ends with a happily ever after. If you want a story where the underdog finds true love, a sub is freed from a horrible man posing as a Dom- and finds freedom through truly perfect bdsm, where the bad guy gets what he deserves, and where lonely people find a family through their new friends, this might just be the book for you. I’m not fond of this narrator though, and the voice he picked for Thomas is not right for this character at all.
