In just seven days, the world will crumble. The System's Descent will usher in a new era of chaos: wild animals mutating, monstrous creatures emerging, and the cessation of modern technology. Humanity will be left defenseless. Drew Wright knows none of this. At least not until he is rudely ripped from his bed and thrust into a white room to undergo a taser-happy ‘Tutorial’. Turns out, he is one of a thousand randomly selected people to be forewarned of the approaching apocalypse. Henry already died once. Does he really need to do it again? Now he's a skeleton with a stat sheet, skills, and an insatiable desire to kill humans. Lurking in the very depths of his bleached skull, some remnant of his old self still remains—and it wants to break free just as badly as Henry wants to figure out how he's a skeleton in the first place. Publisher's summary
As a mere peasant, I can't say that my life was anything but a slog.
I struggled every day, looking to put something on the table, but it was my life, and no one had a right to take it. Especially not Eris Lanyer, lord of the city, the very same who was supposed to keep people such as myself safe! The nobleman killed me without a second thought for the sole purpose of testing the blade he had just acquired!
So here I am, burning with such a rage at this flagrant lack of justice. My hate is so immense that I'm unable to pass to the afterlife, and so I return as a Revenant.
If no one noticed my existence among the living, they sure as all hell are going to take note of me in my death… or rather undeath! A little pact with a dark deity later, and I'm now capable of growing my powers through the accumulation of Discordance shards.
Waging war against the mighty, causing mayhem, and striking fear in the hearts of mortals will help me unlock new abilities that will bring me closer to my ultimate goal: build an Undead Kingdom and run Eris' little world into the ground! Because I don't just want the man to pay for his sins, oh no! I want to make him suffer like I did my entire life, and I will not rest until he has tasted what true misery and despair feel like.
But wait, why can I only seem to shriek and snarl when I try to speak? And what is that atrocious pain and hunger that won't let me rest for even a second? As it turns out, life as a revenant is a little more complicated than I first thought… Oh, here's someone. Maybe he'll be able to help?
*Shrieks*
Oh boy…

With this ability to command magical beasts, I might just live out the apocalypse. Together with a ragtag group of survivors, we're wading through the mayhem while searching for somewhere safe. Somewhere that monsters aren't desperately trying to kill us, where the opportunistic among humanity aren't looking for easy XP.

When an ambitious teenage girl from Earth finds herself in a magical realm, she could be the hero—but she'd prefer to be the villain. When power-hungry Everly is reborn into a medieval world where elemental magic rules and she receives her elemental servants—the oddly sadistic Eris and the fun-loving Titania—years earlier than one typically would, she knows she's destined for a command of necromantic magic the likes of which her peers can only dream.

Better than expected
I’m a sucker for the morally murky main character. This was a quick read with a dark MC and more moral nuance than most books in the genre. Light on the litrpg side but still entertaining. Will try the next in the series and maybe more from this author.

Beautiful!
A wonderfully done dark MC who sticks to his principles in brutal fashion. The writing was well done and highly entertaining. I’m eager to hear more from this author and of this series as it’s easily made it into my Top 5 favorite LitRPG’s. Well done job by the narrator as well.

Incredible Fast Pace Lots of Change
This book follows a man who is a peasant who is killed by a nobleman and becomes a revenant then creates a kingdom that is lit RPG world building at its best. has to be one of the first lit RPGs to embrace darkness. only stupid moment that doesn't make sense is when the Revenant Slaughter is a village including children but is Mr Almighty about sexual assault it goes a little woke. Overall worth the money amazing.

Bringing it to "Life"
Although I play AD&D, and other such games, I don't typically listen to much LitRPG. But, I think all that is about to change! Thanks to Daniel Wisniewski's voice acting, and it truly is, I will have to start adding to my library. Well done Gentlemen!

Original story and great characters
Little more world building, and it is a very minor issue. The MC is right on point, it’s a little dark but not overly so

To slow
The plot is good, and I like the MC. The magic system also is fun. But the story felt like a slow burn and the narrator didn’t help that. No book 2 for me.

Eh.... A bit average.
The story has a strong theme and plotline for sure, if simple. The writing is fast paced and doesn't overextend itself which is one of the better parts of it. Frankly speaking, the main character isn't a character. He is the vehicle that moves the story forward but other than a few snippets at the beginning and very lightly sprinkled throughout the book, he really is just a monster driven by revenge.
Allies and enemies are killed in somewhat... sudden and shocking ways even if this foreshadowed extremely obviously. It seems like alot of this was done for shock. The books was fun sure, but i was very dissapointed by the main character not being much of anything. Other characters are fun, and the worldbuilding is decent but this feeling of the main character not being present at all kind of spoils this.
The narrator, though did a fantastic job with this one.

Decently Average
The audio book was fine. I wasn't hooked to it but I didn't dislike it at all. Someday I may pickup the 2nd novel if I have some extra credits but I'm not feeling rushed to begin the next in the series.
