Publisher's summary

Looking back, they called those turbulent times simply The Troubles.

A period of chaotic upheaval and destruction that sent the Republic reeling through successive crises, each growing more desperate as the galaxy spun out of control.

Exactly when The Troubles started…that was open to interpretation. After the Savage Wars were thought to have ended, said some. Others claimed the period of death and war began with the Republic's action on Psydon. Still, others pointed to the Republic's forced migration of the zhee or even the arrival of the Mid-Core Rebellion, culminating in victories against the Legion at Kublar and the genocidal atrocities extending as far as Rhysis Whan.

But no matter when they began, the galaxy-shaking events of The Troubles were well remembered by those who suffered through them, and the scars of those upheavals would leave their indelible mark for years, and perhaps lifetimes, to come.

The brazen and open government corruption infesting the former capital planet of Utopion.

The arrival of the tyrant Goth Sullus, who briefly united opposition to the Republic before falling prey to the vanity of the title…The Emperor.

The Legion's invocation of Article Nineteen of the Republic Constitution, which brought an all-consuming flame to a simmering cold war that had long been stewing between the rulers and those forced to fight their needless wars.

The sudden unexpected attack by an alien race known as the Cybar. Relentless. Cruel. Inhuman in the extreme.

And finally, the long-planned return of a tribe of lost Savages, led by their messiah…the Golden King.

The Troubles. A quaint name for a horrific period in the galaxy's history. A period whose atrocities were superseded only by the terror of the Savage Wars that had come before. Almost no corner of the galaxy was spared a taste of terrible war, cutthroat intrigue…and remorseless death.

In the aftermath, this battered galaxy now longs for peace and stability. The Republic, now reformed, seeks to govern by the rule of law. But no matter how sincere the reform, how earnest and well-meaning the ruler, some worlds refuse to place their destiny in the hands of others. Ever again.

Been there. Done that. Got burned along the way.

Because some things never change. Power summons would-be tyrants eager to seize it. Ancient vendettas cry out to be settled. Corruption worms its way through the souls of men too weak to resist it or too wicked to try. And dead-eyed killers gather in all the usual starports, awaiting the opportunity to do what they do best for the promise of a quick credit.

Through it all, the silent Legion waits for its cue to once more tread upon the stage and break its enemies through nothing more and nothing less than total violence of action capably applied. As though this time… things will be different.

Out on the edge, they say…

Everyone's got a plan until the Legion shows up.

Like Lucky Charms Without The Marshmallows!

Whenever they change voice actors I cry inside. It is like eating a bowl of Lucky Charms without the Marshmallows. It is edible but but missing the Joy.

Great first season 3 episode

Didn’t know where else the story would go, but this seems a very interesting direction.

Also enjoyed Mark Boyett’s narration. He’s a great addition to the team who has given voice to these stories. I’ll always think of RC Bray first due to shear volume and quality of his work. But Mr Boyett’s narration style didn’t take me out of the story at all.

Im ready for more!

I do think the "talks" with Zora etc was a good idea to tell what we never was a part of. However a bit disappointed that it didn't made that much sense, as she was not there half of the time, or that the story was from "all knowing" POV, as she or wraith was never abord the xxxx commander idiots ship etc. however details. Anyway minor details. I have no idea why I write this.;

I am sure noone will ponder to buy this!
(I did skip Remains, I think as I were busy and had just listen to like 10 to 12 books in prequel to Warhammer series "I saw Horus die.." So not so keen when most of the book sounded like one battle book. However I gave up at the mechworld book and started to get tire of stories of the different "sons")

Not max score because I think the author was a OK narrator, but no RC Bray. (Also when did people speaking "standard" get Scottish accent. I am pretty sure I can't remember Owen had that. I am sure there is hard to make different voices, but that doesn't matter as much as long it is clear who speak.

I wish for a origin trilogi (continuation of Savage Wars maybe, or just on their own) about Kill team ice. (I atleasst hope we get a really "brick" of some interview with Mcaffee(?) or someone. ) We never found out how and when Fast became Ford etc. Anyway, I cannot see that there won't come a book regards to the start a mission or 2 and the end of Kill team Ice. Please!

(and no pre buy for next yet! )
My "normal" favorite author (John Irving) uses 8 yrs to write books. I am glad there are some quality authors like these guys (and Terry Pratchett! (usually had 3 books going at a time and even had some rare Alzheimer's his last books!

Now back to wayward galaxy. I completely forgot about that too, I see it probably end now..

What happen to RC Bray

Good plot but why was RC Bray changed out? Started with Bray but then some weird transition to Boyett. Like waking up after a bad bender.

Holy Strokes it’s Season 3

The fade out of Bray to Boyett was a nice touch and honestly I think Boyett does an awesome job stepping into those shoes to voice season 3.

Set 2.5 years after KTF2 Chhun and the Legion are on a fact finding mission to figure out just how exactly things went pear shaped in the Galaxy to make it such a DUMPSTER FIRE. First up, learning what really went on in the 7 years between Kill Team and Galactic outlaws. The story picks up with the Bounty Hunter Blackheart detailing the adventures of how Capt Ford became the infamous Wraith, while also throwing in what’s happening in the current timeline on the fact finding mission. And that epilogue. I’m gonna need a breather after that one.

Another great entry in my favorite military sci-fi series! Exciting to see some of the original characters coming back to the forefront! Can’t wait for the next book to come out!!! Hurry up Anspach and Cole ;-)

Hot Dog! GE is back!

It was a lot of fun. The narrator wasn't RC Bray, but he did a great job. Of course, I miss Bray, but I'm not missing out, the narrator really is good.

The story is a little different in structure, but the scenes are awesome. It kind of seems like the authors had a but of great material that they wanted to use, so they're building a story out of it. It's a little different, but I'm really looking forward to the rest of it.

I'm sorry

I'm sorry I can't get over the voice. I have listened to everyone of GE's audiobooks. I read the actual books with RC Bray's voice in my head. I'm forever ready to KTF for this series I just wish I could've mentally prepared myself for hearing this version of Wraith and even the former Legion Commander Chun. Can we AAR this out, and try to get RC Bray back?

I made it!!

Firstly, great flashback and retroactive continuity. I am going to assume that .500 caliber means .500 Magnum rimmed revolver cartridges. Pretty sick round. I eagerly await more books for season three. The best series I’ve ever encountered so far. Certainly will remain among my all-time favorites in military sci-fi. I’ve consumed every book of the main series, Contracts and Terminations, Dark Operator and I’m three away from completing Order of the Centurion. Every book has doses of military wisdom, thrills and hilarity. As for the title of this review, I joined the fan club and finally heard my name included in the series, appearing in the epilogue. I hope for the communication Sergeant Renfro gets some at the cyclic rate in the future.

RC Bray's voice was missed

The story os excellent. Filling in some backstory on Wraith/Keel that is referenced in S2. The filling in of after the downfall of the Golden King is excellent as well.

The narration was not bad. I just wish that voice actors would try to keep continuity of voices rather than recreate characters that we have heard for 15 books already.
