INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

A new mystery is afoot in the third book in the Thursday Murder Club series from million-copy bestselling author Richard Osman.

“The quartet of aging amateur sleuths…remain wonderful company,”—the New York Times Book Review

The Bullet That Missed hits on every front.”—the Wall Street Journal

It is an ordinary Thursday, and things should finally be returning to normal.

Except trouble is never far away where the Thursday Murder Club are concerned. A decade-old cold case—their favorite kind—leads them to a local news legend and a murder with no body and no answers.

Then a new foe pays Elizabeth a visit. Her mission? Kill or be killed. Suddenly the cold case has become red hot.

While Elizabeth wrestles with her conscience (and a gun), Joyce, Ron, and Ibrahim chase down the clues with help from old friends and new. But can the gang solve the mystery and save Elizabeth before the murderer strikes again?

From an upmarket spa to a prison cell complete with espresso machine to a luxury penthouse high in the sky, this third adventure of the Thursday Murder Club is full of the cleverness, intrigue, and irresistible charm that fans have come to expect from Richard Osman’s bestselling series.

Critic reviews

“Osman concocts a satisfyingly complex whodunit full of neat twists and wrong turns. But unlike most crime novelists, he ensures his book’s strength and momentum stem not from its plot or its thrills but rather its perfectly formed characters. Once again, the quartet of friends makes for delightful company… Heartwarming and enthralling. ‘They carried a kind of magic, the four of them,’ a policeman muses. That magic is still there in abundance.”—Washington Post

The Bullet That Missed hits on every front. Its quandaries stymie, its solutions thrill, its banter is worth reciting and its characters exemplify an admirable camaraderie. One can only hope that the Thursday Murder Club’s next outing appears before long.”—Wall Street Journal

“The Thursday Murder Club is back, and that should make everyone happy—except, of course, murderers. Richard Osman's engaging series about a group of crime-solving retirees has delighted readers since the first book. The Thursday Murder Club, an international bestseller, was funny, original, baffling, poignant and thoroughly engaging. That's a high bar to set from the get-go, but Osman has easily achieved it in subsequent books… This book is as delightful as the others. A remarkable achievement, Osman up there effortlessly balancing on that very high bar.”—Minneapolis Star-Tribune

Retirement aspirations…..

I love this cast of characters. Third book in a wonderful series and everything I hoped for in the story. However, the change in narrator for this third book was a real disappointment! Nowhere near as good as the narrator for the first two- such a shame!

Performance

I was disappointed that the reader for this book was different. The first two books have a fantastic reader. This third book not so much. The performance was a let down. I was looking forward to hearing Bogdan’s voice again. But his voice was a disappointment. Most foreign accents sounded the same.

Loved the story, the narrator missed

Richard Osman hit it out of the ball park again-just love these entertaining characters! I love reading whisper sync enhanced, but not this time. I advise enjoying Book 3 without the drag of the narrators. I realized just how much Lesley Manville enhanced the characters even more so for the first two books-missed that very much. The female voices were not enhanced in their differences, not articulate, could put me to sleep. Hopefully there's a deal in the works for Lesley to narrarate more!

Don’t like new narrator

Get like narrator was whispering and the voices between characters was often muddled. This really matters in a serious like this with dry humor, etc.
liked the prior books way more.

The Series That Hit!

What a fantastic series! It’s engaging, has a terrific array of well developed characters, the plots are great and the humor is well timed and in point. I cannot recommend these books highly enough. They are not cozies. They’re just great fun, serious at the right times and extremely well written. The narrator is absolutely wonderful.

Difficult to the ear at places

The presenter was very good but I had a hard time hearing certain unfamiliar terms (I’m not British) due to the heavier British accent of the narrator. We would almost refer to it as a soft slur which blocked certain consonant sounds and there were some very low - quiet places were volume control did not change or improve the quality.

Superbly read story with great writing

Entertaining third book in the Thursday Murder Club series. The storyline is not as smooth as in the first two books, but Fiona Shaw delivers a stellar narration.

Truly delightful

My husband and I listened to this 11 hour book within two days. We love the characters and after the first two books in the series, feel like we know them. An intriguing mystery and witty writing make it one of our favorites. Some reviewers were upset by the change in narrators but we thought Fiona Shaw voiced the characters with all of the different accents perfectly. I wouldn’t have noticed it was a new narrator if it wasn’t brought to my attention.
Looking forward to the next book in the series.

Who knew murder was SO interesting…

Another great story from the The Thursday Night Murder Club. An unsolved murder was complex yet mesmerizing. And the characters were funny yet poignant.
