Publisher's summary

"An absolutely delightful treat to savor! Relatable, sexy, and beautiful."—Elena Armas, New York Times bestselling author of The Spanish Love Deception

Summer won't last forever.

Sage Byrd has lived in the coastal town of Spunes, Oregon (not to be confused with Forks, Washington) her entire life. She's learned to love her small world, with the misfit animals on her hobby farm, and her friendships with the town’s inhabitants. But when her 5-year relationship ends and her ex, town-golden-boy Ian, suddenly gets engaged, Sage needs a win—something that will convince everyone to stop pitying her all the time, and to put Ian in his place. The Festival of Spunes, the town’s annual summer competition, would be the perfect opportunity. She just needs a partner.

Fisher Lange was a hotshot chef in New York City until the loss of his sister left him numb, grieving, and responsible for his teenage niece Indy. When Fisher loses his Michelin star along with his love of cooking, his boss sends him and Indy to Spunes on a much-needed summer sabbatical to consult on a restaurant opening. But when clashes with the townspeople threaten his last chance to redeem himself and a kiss with his new neighbor Sage leads to dating rumors, a strategic alliance might just be the best way to turn things around.

A deal is struck. Sage will improve Fisher’s image in the eyes of the town and remove the roadblocks he is facing with the restaurant, and Fisher will be Sage’s partner for the competition. But as their pact quickly turns into steamy rendezvous, emotional wounds begin to heal, and the pair tries to savor every moment, they start to realize that summer is racing by much faster than they would like...

Filled with spicy summer fun, small-town charm, and Big Feelings, this highly anticipated romcom is Tarah DeWitt’s best yet.

"Simply unputdownable. A top read for me this year!"—Elsie Silver, USA Today bestselling author of Flawless

"DeWitt’s sprightly narrative is by turns funny and red-hot, as Sage and Fisher, who share a love of puns, develop some serious chemistry... This is a charmer."—Publishers Weekly

You won’t regret it. Narrators were perfection. The story was heart warming. I honestly hope this gets do much hype they end up making it a movie, that’s how much I loved it

I did savor it!

Fisher Lange arrives at Spunes, Oregon, his temporary residence for the summer, with his teenage niece and his introduction to the the town is a 911 call in the middle of the night involving "an intruder". With the police also comes his neighbor, Sage Byrd (who's related the all the cops). She's wearing a funky cow print robe and is quirky, but very intriguing, The hot shot chef from NYC is in a rut. He was fired from this job at the prestigious Marrow restaurant and subsequently lost a Michelin star. His niece also seems to want to have nothing to do with him or this move. But it's a Hail Mary given to him by his boss that he gets to set up her new restaurant in Spunes - if the town's "chamber of commerce" stops putting an obstacle to literally everything.
Sage is also in a rut of her own. Her engagement to the "town prince" ended a year ago and people still look at her with pity. She needs a win and the best thing would be to win the annual competition he always wins. She needs a partner. Fisher needs the town to see him in a different light. A deal - she'll help with his image and he'll be her partner. Dating rumors can only help them both...
I loved this one! Do you know that book that has just the right amount of everything? The hero is broody but relatable, the heroine is quirky but not weird, the teenager is rebellious but not obnoxious. Everything clicks!
It was fun to watch these two fall in love and I confess I got a little teary-eyes when they parted ways at the end of the summer (Shocker! A third act breakup that I am on board with!) and I rooted for them like they were real!
Narration: and Zachary Weber are always amazing together, but in this one they complement each other marvelously. Karissa has that melodious, sweet voice that fits Sage like a glove. Zachary is wonderful as Fisher, giving a performance that makes you laugh out loud at his big city boy in small town situations and making you tear up with all the hurt he's carrying. A million stars for both!

Great book. pacing needed work

I loved this book. the story was so fun and sweet. it was funny and sexy. the pacing was off for me though. there were sections that were paced perfectly and then closer the end it got all rushed. the things that got rushed were of course the things you've been waiting to hear about through out the whole book and the details weren't there. Just rushed by. the narrators were amazing of course. I loved them both so much and they did such great jobs this book could have been narrated by just one of them and had been just as good. I wish it was a duet though. it would have been so great as a duet. especially with the power house that these two narrators are. the story was amazing, I just wish there would have been more details in the last 10 chapters or so.

I am a sucker for a quirky small town

I simply loved this story and the characters with my whole heart. It was like a warm hug that I just did not want to end.

Fisher and Sage are perfection. They end up as neighbours—Fisher with his niece and Sage with her plethora of animals on the farm and they couldn’t have been more perfect for each other.

The banter between the two was chef’s kiss and I simply cannot get over the puns or Sage’s punny clothes.

This was the most perfectly sweet, adorable and swoony love story with the best ending. Come on—Indy and the goose?!? 🥰

Tropes:
Single guardian
Small town
Neighbours to lovers
Forced proximity
Fake dating
So many farm animals

Narration: I’ve always been a Zachary Webber fan and he did not disappoint as per usual. This was my first audiobook with Karissa Vacker and she did so wonderful.

🎧 Narration: flawless. no notes. zachary webber was the perfect fisher. his delivery during the emotional moments in this story had me in a chokehold. & this was my first listen for karissa vacker but she was phenomenal!

i will simply never be over sage & fisher. these two have my whole heart. “love is this.” 🫠 when fisher & his niece come to town it all starts with chaos, police visits & a woman in a cow robe & somehow turns into the love & found family they didn’t realize they were missing. 🥹 the way fisher falls so hard & just really gave his all even with an end date 😭 they both loved so hard. fisher & indy were one of my favorite guardian relationships. they both grow with each other so much during the story. & indy at the end with the journal? 🥹 i just loved this book. “yes chef” 🤭 & “happiest when wet” were my favorite little moments. & the spice 😮‍💨 just right. five star.
