Publisher's summary

For so long he had waited.

Five years in the prime of his life, wasted. And now finally, after so long, he was returning to society, ready to resume his life. And this time he wouldn't make the same mistakes. This time, he would do it right.

Yet just as he was about to gain his freedom...everything changed. He found himself in a new world without explanation, a world of magic and possibilities beyond his wildest dreams.

Orc, elf, ogre…hundreds of possible races.

Blacksmith, fighter, rogue…thousands of possible classes.

And each of them with tens of thousands of possible skills.

Reborn into a new world of limitless possibilities, Cayden will choose a path entirely his own. He will forge himself into something brand new–powerful enough to protect himself and the ones he loves.

This litRPG follows Cayden after he wakes up as a baby in a new world. Join him as he learns the rules behind the system governing this world–and then pushes them as far as they can go.

Includes a mostly-balanced system, combat, friendships, a magic academy, dungeon-delving, monsters, and just a hint of politics and intrigue.

it was good. I finished it. parts of the story bothered me though.

story was okay. I liked the concept enough to finish, but the main character did bother me at times.
he is supposed to have his memories from another life. he reminds the reader that he is more mature mentally... but the character comes across as more immature than literally every character we meet.

a verbal bully calls him a dog. he doesn't ignore it or confront the bully like an adult. he starts growling and baring his teeth like a dog.

he doesn't think things through and acts on impulse

he, kinda, blames others for things they have no control over.

the Mc just comes across as immature which clashes with what I'd presented.

it's fine. Just a bit jarring for me personally. like I said I still read it and will probably read book 2

Storytelling at its finest

Although plot armor and the political intrigue was unbelievable at times, the storytelling and the well developed characters are fleshed out and fantastic! Cant wait for book 2

this book starts fairly slow but it builds the world in an amazing and fairly unique way. I am really looking forward to the next book.

Good if a bit of a meathead

So let's skip past the first say 10 hours, that's all set up and growing up and world building. Engaging but not much to say about it.

It's the latter two thirds where the book both shines and gets somewhat annoying. While the story , progression and characters are great and entertaining the logic is a bit dumb.

The main character soon wants to do something as his main goal but he doesnt at all think of the consequences of his actions. Like if he succeeds he will be branded a traitor or criminal and have to flee the kingdom. Yet he doesnt at all prepare for this. Learns nothing of neighboring kingdoms or makes plans for what he'll do. He basically act like he will just go back to living his life as normal after. Which is stupid in a world of skills where obviously there would be crime tracking skills.

WORSE though and as the summary says there are skills and the MCs one OP advantage in the book is he can get tier 3 skills while everyone else is tier 2. Yet he spends almost NO time trying to combine skills to earn tier 3s. There are sooo many hours of him training , leveling and other stuff but his biggest advantage he basically ignores all book. He doesn't ask teachers. doesn't read books , doesnt actively post on the adventuring board for skill unlocks even though he makes bank and can afford it.

He should be combining every skill that's similar into tier 2s and making lists then trying combinations that SHOULD be his MAIN focus but not only is it not, he doesnt do it at all. Ge relies more on luck to combine or keeps resetting weak tier 1 skills. ITS SOOO frustrating. Like dude just get that boost all stat skill one at least to have. The awareness, endurance, ect ect. I get why does that first but later on unlike the last third there is no reason not to.

Unique system and good pacing.

The acquisition of races and skills was unique and a breath of fresh air compared to systems in other books. The book balanced interesting skills with balanced power. The MC has advantages and strengths, but also weaknesses. He was never really OP like some MCs become.

Grasped My Attention

I absolutely loved this book. So many different elements that took so many different directions. The curiosity of the main character and the need to better themselves is just so captivating. The need to discover everything they can in this new world and become the very best he can be is great. Also I have read so many LITRPG books and this is the first time I've seen a Gargoyle race and it didn't disappoint!
